This week I’d like to showcase VENICE BEACH, CA. Of course it’s a hot tourist area for people visiting California. Its full of “crazies”, “bums” and street performers. But when you take a step back and forget about what society’s “NORMS” are supposed to be … it’s just a place for people from all over to express themselves. If you go down to Venice you will for sure be entertained.
For those of you whom haven’t been able to experience VENICE here is what you’re in for: A sweet little strip of shops, restaurants and booths alongside the coast. The beach is an active one for sure, equipped with an outdoor gym, playgrounds, bike paths, and a skate park. On the path you’re sure to experience some phenomenal street performers. Be sure to bring a few extra bucks cash because you will want to tip these guys. They are not all drug attics and homeless people, the people that think that need to get their head out of their “you know where”.
I have seen some of the guys down there do some amazing things. (Physically straining things that you’d be lucky to see in a gymnastic competition) There are also some really great musical artists… I’d recommend the piano player outside The Sidewalk Café. As you walk down you will also see tons and tons of one-of-a-kind paintings and mixed media art. Some of the vendors are making the art right on the strip as you walk by. Some people are a little rough around the edges for sure, but amongst all that you can find some that are diamonds in the rough. (SWEET ALADDIN REFERENCE)
Anyway, the cool part about Venice is that everyone just seems to do what he or she wants. I came to California about 4 years ago to visit and saw most of the same people and artists that are out there today. It seems to me that most of the people that are out there are driven purely by passion, which is pretty neat to see.
Check out this cool site for more information on the history on venice and what you can expect to see now.
